Pizza…the elevate pizza recipe was first made in Napoli, in the early 19th Century; in the late 19th Century pizza was brought in USA due to Italian immigrants and it is now popular around the world. There are numerous of types of pizza: Margherita, Carbonara, Capricossa, Funghi, Pepperoni, Quatro Formaggi, Hawaii, Vegetarian, Calzone, Frutti di mare etc etc.
Today I choose to make…Homemade Sunday’s Pizza. 🙂
- Fresh Cottage - 450-500 gr
- Bacon - 200 gr
- Săsesc Salami - 300 gr
- Cherry tomatoes - 300 gr
- Fresh tomato sauce
- Basil leaves - from the garden 🙂
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 2 teaspoons
- Sugar - 2 teaspoons
- Yeast - 1 pack (small pack - 35 gr)
- Flour - 3 mugs and a half
- Warm water - 1 mug/glass
- Big big bowl
- and, of course, the hands to knead the dough!
How I did it
Make the dough! I added the yeast into warm water and left it dissolve. Once that has been done, I added flour into a large bowl, made a hole in the middle and started adding the rest of the ingredients: flour, salt, sugar, olive oil and started the kneading process. Once the dough was smooth and elastic I left it the dough grow and rest for about 1.5 hours in a warm place - I turned the oven on and add the bowl there ;). Tip: Instead of using the hands to knead, you can use a mixer as well, if it's easier for you.
Prepare the topping While I left the dough grow and rest, we took care of the topping (by "we", I actually mean "my fiancee") - chopping in small cubic pieces all the ingredients: cottage, bacon, salami - and the cherry tomatoes in half. Once that has been done and the dough grew, I started rolling and stretching the dough.
Add the topping! I added baking paper on the oven tray and then added the stretched dough. Then, adding the topping - starting with the tomato sauce, adding it circular on the pizza dough and leaving untouched 1 centimeter until it reached the margins. Then, adding the cottage! Feel free to make it...cheese! 😉 Then, adding the cherry tomatoes, the bacon and the salami! Ready for the oven!
Bake the pizza! I added the pizza in the oven at 200 Celsius Degrees, for 20 minutes! 20 minutes after, in the kitchen was smelling...delicious! 🙂 And the taste was the same. The pizza dough was crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. Want a piece?
