I always thought that making shrimps is funny. But I found out 2 years ago that it’s also simple.
Shrimps is a fresh and healthy sea food that goes so well with rice, that’s why I chose to make Shrimps on a curry rice bed.
Take a look at the ingredients:
- Shrimps – 300 gr
- Rice – 2 glass or 350 gr
- Mushrooms – because they just go so well with the rice – 200 gr
- Green beans – 200 gr
- Butter for cooking shrimps - 1 cube
- Olive oil for cooking rice and vegetables - 1 spoon
- Fish sauce - 1 spoon
- Rice vinegar - 2 spoons added on the rice only
- Condiments: curry, parsley, basil, salt, lemon pepper and paprika
- And lemon, of course
Instruments for this recipe:
- 2 pots: one for preparing the rice and the other for preparing the vegetables
How I did it:
preparing the shrimp: I let the shrimps defrost over night. After they were ready to be cooked I seasoned them with: salt, lemon pepper, parsley.
cooking shrimp: I prepared the wok with butter and simply throw the shrimps in the wok. I can already sense the smell of crunchiness. I did not let them cook in the wok without supervision because shrimps cook quickly and they can easily be overcooked.
preparing the vegetables: In a pot I put the vegetables, mushrooms and green beans and let them boil in water for about 10 minute. Added salt and pepper. At the same time I put the rice in the other pot and let it boil for 15- 20 minutes.
last step for great vegetables: Once the vegetables are almost ready I drained the water and put the in the wok, after washing it and added a spoon of olive oil. I put in the wok the vegetables, added basil, parsley, paprika and let them cook, at small heat.
getting the rice ready: While vegetables were getting ready, I prepared the rice. Drained the water, put it in a bowl and seasoned it: curry, salt, lemon pepper and rice vinegar. Mixed it all and added the rice in the wok, to cook along with the vegetables for another 5 minutes.
plating: On a beautiful, rectangle plate I put rice and vegetables and on this bed of rice I added the shrimps.
Finished with a squashed lemon over the dish.
