Chicken Basket

No. I’m not talking about the picnic basket one takes when he goes picnic with his parents.
It’s a recipe where the chicken really has a “basket form”. And you will see why. 🙂

This recipe had it’s inspiration from the Mastechef US TV show. I felt in the mood to play with food therefore I made it and it was fun, easy and worth the taste!

Ingredients:

  • Chicken breast - 300 gr
  • Tomato - 2 medium pieces
  • Mushrooms - 200 gr, Champignon mushrooms
  • Carrots - 200 gr
  • Red pepper - 1 piece
  • Onion - 1 piece
  • Pea - 200 gr
  • For the basket I used: butter, flour, 1 egg / 2 eggs for 2 portions

Kitchen tools:

  • Pan for the chicken breast
  • Pan for frying the “basket”
  • Wok for the vegetable

How I did it:

Step 1

Start the preparations for the chicken: First, I chopped onion into jullien slices. And put it aside in a bow. Afterwards, I sliced the chicken meat into pieces the way the slicing is made for the “shanghai” recipe. Seasoned it with salt, pepper and sweet paprika.

After seasoning I dropped olive oil in the pan and added the onions and the chicken. pui in tigaie

Step 2

The vegetables: I put the vegetables into a pot and let them 5 minutes to boil. Then, I took them out and started chopping: the mushrooms, the paprika and the carrots.

Step 3

Get some vegetables cookin’: Next I prepared the wok by adding a spoon of olive oil. I put the vegetables in the wok and added the chopped tomatoes. Seasoned all with balsamic vinegar and condiments: salt, pepper, lovage, celery. I let them cook for 7-10 more minutes and in this time I mixed the ingredients from time to time.

Step 4

Checking the chicken: Once I put the vegetables into the wok I checked the chicken, It was almost cooked. I added a drop of soy sauce and  turned the pieces on the other side. I let them cook for another 5-7 minutes.

Step 5

Preparing the tomato sauce: For the sauce I used tomatoes, tomato pasta, mustard, soy sauce, one coffee spoon of sugar, garam masala and just a drop of balsamic vinegar. Mixed them all into a bowl and then added parsley.

Step 6

The basket: For the basket I took an egg and separate the yolk from the glair. I beat the yolk, added condiments: salt,  sweet paprika and basil, then I added the flour. In the oven tray I put the piece of butter and added all these ingredients with a ladle. I let it cook for about 5 minutes each side. It was ready.

Step 7

The plating: I took a rectangle plate and added the vegetables. Over the vegetables I added the basket. On the basked I put the homepage tomato sauce and on top I added the chicken and the fresh dill. My boyfriend loved it. 🙂
